OK, folks .. keep it moving – nothing to see here .. eyes on the road.
So can we all agree to ignore yesterday’s little outburst and move right along?
Yes?
Fabulous! I knew you’d understand.
In that vain, a story …

Kendall has become obsessed with the 1973 movie version of Godspell. Since we already knew and loved the music, I couldn’t resist picking it up out of the bargain bin a couple of weeks ago. It is now one of only three (ok, two and a half really) feature length films that she can sit (almost all the way) through.
As we watch the movie, the actor playing Jesus is tracing a heart in the steam on a window.
Kendall asks, “What is his name?”
I answer, “That’s Jesus, honey.”
“Jesus CHRIST,’ says Darby – in case her sister was wondering if it might have been Jesus Menendez??
“He’s drawing a heart.”
“Yes he is, baby.”
“What is his favorite color?”
Her favorite ‘friend file’ question.
“Well, I don’t think that his favorite color is covered in the gospels, sweetheart. Maybe it’s blue.”
Too many words make them all meaningless, so she asks again.
“What is his favorite color?”
“His favorite would be the whole rainbow, don’t you think?” asks Darby.
I do indeed, my little love. I do indeed.
“What rhymes with Jesus?”
“Nothing, Kendall,” Darby says emphatically. She’s losing patience. “NOTHING rhymes with Jesus. It’s like purple.”
“CHEEEEZUS rhymes with Jesus.”
“Yes, honey, it does.” I say, trying not to smirk.
“Jesus is a superhero.”
In the movie, Jesus wears a Superman t-shirt.
“Are you going to be Jesus for Halloween?”
I don’t answer fast enough, so she asks again.
“Are you going to be Jesus for Halloween?”
Um, hmm, well, I um – “NO, Kenz, I’m not going to be Jesus for Halloween.”
“You will be Jesus for Halloween.”
Perhaps I should have stuck with Little Orphan Annie and CinderElmo.
We are gonna need a picture of that ensemble! LOL

Is it just me or is anyone else craving Cheezits? Too cute. And remember that I played Mary for Christmas Eve one year. I could see you as Jesus.

Now you’re making me think about Bezus and Ramona–remember them? And FWIW, you are often god-like to me!
Comment by Jo — October 14, 2009 @ 1:31 pm |
That’s the first thing I thought of too — poor Beezus and the “Jesus, Beezus” taunts!

Love it.
My daughter once said, when I told he that ’snorange’ rhymed with ‘orange’ (as a joke).
“Well, thank you Dr. Seuss!”
I think that applies here :0)

Careful, Carrie – I’m shameless for fundraising and a certain grassroots autism alliance in metro Boston could REALLY use those big bucks …. Lol (sorta)

Wow, I just find you and I feel, that I’m not alone… Mathew is 9 and all though he has little to say, he’s a clown and a prankster. Last night he flushed his sister’s kitten in the toilet, turning the poor thing blue, I was doing the Landry and he just went and dumped the kitten on the pile of cloth in the basement and said: Ups! try again…The cat is blue mom… I said, I know sweetheart, but don’t do it again, because the kitty will cry… He paid little attention to me and went back in to the bathroom to turn everything around him… BLUE…
